Friday Day 3 -- Romantic Times Booklovers convention
Yeah, I know it's Sunday, but I just got home to a real live computer (I'm using Derek's). I wrote out the blog for each day in long hand, so I could post when I got home (I just got home from the airport).
Here's Friday, Day 3 of the RT Con -- It's amazing all of the people you can meet at RT! Aside from making incredible new friends, (and buying spectacular jewlery), publishing deals are literally being made in the halls and bars. This place is one big, networking, shangra-la, smooze fest. Authors are getting agents, the pre-published are geting interested publishing houses, and are needing an agent pronto. And everyone is helping everyone else out -- if a friend is on the verge of an offer and needs an agent, established authors are on the phone to their agents to get those steps started toward representation. I've never seen so many cell phones and texting in my life. ; )
Tonight we're throwing a surprise baby shower for Isabo Kelly (fabulous, and very pregnant sci-fi author). There was cake and champagne (the mom-to-be drank water). After that we all went out to dinner at Six Penn, a spectacular restaurant a few blocks from the hotel that Kevin the Super Concierge set up for us. It was some of the best food I'd ever had. Once again, Kevin rocks! Saturday is the big Book Fair. My publicist Valerie Cortes is a force of nature! ; ) Since MLTF had sold out and had to go back for its second printing (yea!) there weren't any until this week. Val is overnighting them to the hotel (she's been busting her butt to make this happen) so that I can do a buy-one-get-one free deal with Armed & Magical.
450 authors, 3,000 fans. It's gonna be insane! I can't wait. ; )
Tomorrow (Monday) I'll post the blog I wrote (in long hand) for Saturday. You DO NOT want to miss this. A hint -- kick-ass book sales, Fabio, Adrian Paul, and a power failure. I will say no more. (Aren't I mean?) Come back tomorrow. ; )
I have to do laundry now,
Lisa
