Boris -- 1991-2008
This morning, Derek & I had to do one of the most difficult and heartbreaking things we've ever had to do. We had to have Boris put to sleep. He had terminal cancer and kidney failure and there was nothing the vet could do. The photo is of Boris and Natasha -- Boris is the short-haired one on the right. Not only was he my kitty, he was Raine's cat as well in Magic Lost, Trouble Found.
He was 17 years old, had a long and happy life, and I will miss him more than I can say.
Lisa

awwwww :(
I'm so sorry about Boris.
Thank you Kimber An & Otto.
omigosh. Mrs. Lisa I'm so sorry to hear that. Borris was such a nice cat, even if he hid most of the time when we came over. *hugs*
I just came by here for my first visit... I'm so sorry. Really.
I know what this is like and feel for you. He looks so lovely in that photo. I'm glad you gave him a wonderful life!
Thank you, Diana.
Welcome, Katzdreamer. And thank you. Boris did have a long and (until last week) healthy life. I only found out about the tumor and kidney failure yesterday when I took him to the vet. He hadn't been well for the past few days, and I thought it might be serious; I just didn't know how serious. Thanks to our compassionate and marvelous vet, Boris's passing was dignified and peaceful.
Oh, gosh I'm so sorry! As you know, I just had to do the same thing with my 19-year-old cat about three weeks ago. I still don't go to bed without thinking about feeding and brushing her.
With my cat, we knew the renal failure would come, but we didn't expect to strike so hard and so quickly. Not quickly enough for a merciful death, however, which is why we put her to sleep.
We have no pets right now, and probably will remain petless until Vicky is a little older.
Thank you, Tia. After Dodger died last year around this time, we said we'd wait a while before adopting another greyhound. Then the Melbourne, FL, track closed and "Nimble Andy" needed a home. We took one look at that face and knew our "wait a while" was over. : )
Lisa, I'm so sorry. It's so hard to lose a special member of the family. But you've done Boris a great service by immortalizing him in your book. The photo is adorable.
My condolences Lisa, it's a horrible experience to go through. I had my furry angel for 16 years and he was a blessing every single day of it. I wish you comfort during a very difficult time.
Oh, Lisa, I'm so sorry about Boris.
I have no doubt you gave him a wonderful life. Recognizing that it was time to put him to sleep was an act of mercy.
{{hugs}}
Thank you Laurie, Judi, & Maria.
Yes, we did feel blessed to have Boris with us for 17 healthy years. And an even bigger blessing now is that our other cat, Natasha (also 17) hasn't noticed that he's gone. Bless her heart, she's never been the sharpest crayon in the box. ; )
So sorry to hear about your kitty Lisa. :( I had my kitty Buddy for 18 long years and when he passed away a few years ago it was very hard to recover from it because we were inseparable.
There's actually some online sites you can buy a little "gravestone" for your pet, I did it and it helped :)
Thank you, Codex.
Boris's ashes will have a place of honor on my desk.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Lisa. This brings tears to my eyes. He's so cute. :(
Thank you, Yolanda.
Lisa, I feel for you. I have been in the same situation, and I know how hard it is.
Thank you so much!
Those attentive green eyes! In that photo he's lying on a bed...but doesn't even look sleepy? That's not very catlike - beds are for naptime ;-)
17 years is absolutely fabulous - my previous kitty lasted until she was about 11. Hope me posting a photo of your book with my Manny wasn't too hurtful after the loss of your lovely Boris. How's Natasha coping?
May there be endless tuna and milk in Kitty Heaven.
Natasha is doing great. And no, the pic of your kitty didn't bother me at all -- Manny looked very handsome posing with a copy of MLTF. ; )
