New place to write
Since I've upped my writing schedule on Bewitched & Betrayed to two chapters a week, I've found a new place to write in the evenings after my day job -- the bar at the kitchen counter. Bar stools aren't comfortable and therefore aren't conducive to surfing/slacking off. I'm focusing better (and the greyhounds are happier having me downstairs). According to the hounds, their happiness is more important than mom being focused.
I wrote seven pages on Chapter 12 last night, and plan to do at least five pages tonight. Five pages a day will finish a chapter in three days (my chapters are 15 pages or so). An additional benefit to me writing downstairs at the bar is that Derek can go upstairs to his office to practice his violin. He's tried practicing downstairs, but Andy the Greyhound circles him looking for an opening to take it away from him. Anything that makes a squeaking sound and is smaller than he is qualifies as a toy. Andy wants that violin -- badly. ; )
So I may be writing the rest of the book while sitting at a bar. Raine and Phaelan think that's a great place to work and wonder what took me so long to think of it. ; )

Some of what's coming up:
- Why does it take so long to publish a book?
- Books with plots/characters similar to Raine books?
- Let every scene advance the plot
- Never stop learning
- Why downtime is good time

I tried writing at a Panera's today. It was an interesting change.
Good luck with your schedule!
Yummy Panera! Being on a diet, I'd love to have ANYTHING from there right about now. I'm having pastry withdrawl . . . and bagel withdrawl, and creamy soup cravings, and oh jeez, but I want some of their hot chocolate.
Okay, I'm back under control now (wipes the drool off the keyboard).
I write....on my laptop on my bed. Tis comfy. Also write on the sofa when I cat-sit - the problem with that, I've got wireless there....and procrastination happens a lot with constant access to the net!
Yeah, I also find a change of scenery a good thing. Sometimes I go to a local Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, or Borders, get myself some coffee, and camp out at a table with my pad to write.
Helped get me through a few trouble spots in stories.
Of course, being in a Barnes or Borders gets me in trouble (ooooh! books!) ;P
Hmm. I've tried changing locations and it's harder for me. I'm too distracted by all the new things to look at! However, when I'm really stuck, then I grab my notebook and head out anywhere but my office, which is usually a DEN OF FRUSTRATION and I hate everything about it by that point.
This cracks me up: "Andy the Greyhound circles him looking for an opening to take it away from him. Anything that makes a squeaking sound and is smaller than he is qualifies as a toy. Andy wants that violin -- badly. ; )"
I so recognize that behavior! LOL
Hey, did you know we're taking in a third greyhound? For fostering only (my husband laughs at this because he knows me too well)but what's cool is she is related to Snowy (our beloved grey who passed away last year). Her grandfather (grandsire?) was Snowy's sire. She even looks a bit like Snow. Her full name is Shewearsthepants. but they call her Pansy.
Here's her pic:

Hmmm, JUST a foster. I've heard that one before. She is BEAUTIFUL! You know you're not going to be able to give her up. ; )
You sound like my husband! LOL
We'll see, though. They're saying she's "busy." Which translates in my mind as "into everything." Oy.
But yeah, she is pretty!
Hey, do your dogs investigate shopping bags when you come in the door? I can barely get in the house before someone's sticking their head in the bags trying to see if there's something for them inside?
All of our shopping bags go on the kitchen counters, but the dogs are incredibly under foot.
Ricky (aka Pilot in the Sky) was our first greyhound and he was a very "busy" boy. We came home from church one Sunday and he'd danged near emptied the pantry and taken it all back to his bed. He ate what he wanted and played with the rest. that boy got into everything. ; ) He was a white greyhound too. Hmmm, wonder if it has anything to do with color? ; )
