Guess what's in the box?
When I got home from work on Wednesday, this was waiting on my front porch, and inside the box was. . . .

. . . my author copies of The Trouble with Demons. (happy dance) And, inside the book was . . .
. . . a perfectly aligned map of Raine's world. Kudos to the printer; everything lines up perfectly! (Not easy to do with something that detailed.) You can click on any of the photos to make them bigger.
And also inside the book, I thanked all of you -- you ARE the best fans any author could ever hope for!
And for more cool news: Magic Lost, Trouble Found has gone back to press for its FOURTH print run! And next month, Armed & Magical will go back to press for its THIRD printing.
Thank you all for helping to make my books successful! : )
Tomorrow I'll post a snippet from The Trouble with Demons featuring Ronan Cayle, Piaras and Talon (and of course, Raine).
And one of my author dreams has now come true. : ) I'll tell you about it on Monday's blog.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
Lisa

(You'll have something very English in the post next week to get you through the last few weeks of edits:))
Ooooooooh!!! All of that's exciting! Congrats! :)
Happiness! It is beautiful!!! :)
Thank you, ladies!
And THANK YOU, Yunaleska! : )
Yes! Love the tape on that package, very cool. :D Congrats!
That's just awesome! I LOVE the map! All great books deserve their own map! Love love love! :D
I remember looking at books this one time, with my mom. She had brought me some she thought I would like. I looked at one, and said it was probably very good. I hadn't gotten to the first page yet. It had a map. She asked why it was probably good, and I said it was because of the map. "Not all good books have maps," I said, "but most books with maps are good" (or something like that)
And while that could be akin to judjing a book b it's cover, I don't care. It's worked well for me--give books with maps a chance.
Thanks for the dedication, the map is beautiful, and happy almost spring. : )
Loved the Map! It came out great.
Forget all my moanings about maps in my comment to you several months ago.
The middle of the page did do nicely.
Nothing seems to be lost. Now to see
if all the places mentioned early in the book are even on the map!
Give your publishers and map person a lot of kudos!!!.
So glad you all loved the map! When I started reading David Eddings and Raymond Feist back in the 80s, their books had maps, so I drew a map of my books' the world. Of course these were my two "practice books" that inspired the Raine series. And no, they won't be published because they're not good enough -- I was learning how to write, hence "practice books." ; )
I drew the map and my artist friend Shari Lambert embellished the mountains, trees, and shorelines. I needed differentiation between the smaller forests and the old growth woods, the same with mountain ranges. She did a great job. She also drew the sea dragons. Everything else, I think, is mine.
And I had to alter a few things prior to it being printed. For example Mermeia wasn't on my original map. And the Isle of Mid was all wrong. I made a few other minor touches. I love drawing maps. Of course, I can't draw anything else except stick figures. ; )
