Humongous news that ya'll have been waiting for
I'm sure most of you have already guessed what my news is, but now that cyber-handshakes have taken place and it's been announced on Deal Lunch, I can announce it here. . .
I have another two-book contract with Ace Books for Raine's 5th and 6th adventures! I can't tell you how excited I am to able to share more of Raine's stories with you, and work with the wonderful Anne Sowards at Ace Books, and my agent-without-compare, Kristin Nelson. Thank you, ladies, for all of your hard work!
NaNo daily word count = 5719
Total NaNo word count = 22,100
Yep, my word count took a flying leap yesterday. I added an entire chapter -- without typing a single word. I had a chapter that takes place at the goblin embassy in Bewitched & Betrayed, and it was part of a subplot that I ended up cutting out. Well, guess what? That subplot fits perfectly in Con & Conjure (at least it will when I get through with it).
So my advice for today is if you have some chapters/scenes that you've written for another book or story, but it doesn't quite fit there, see if it'll work for your NaNo book. You can add a cool scene to your book, and up your word count at the same time.
And you can buy yourself something nice with it -- a day off. I think I'll be using mine to take Thanksgiving Day off. I want to take time to be with my family and I want a whole day to reflect on how grateful I am for them and everything else God has blessed me with. For those of you in the U.S., push a little harder on your word count and try to take Thanksgiving Day off, too. You deserve it -- and so does your family.
Lisa

(I'm up to 18,045--lost 3 days to computer crash and replacement.)
Keep up the good work!
Congratulations! That's wonderful news for you and for us readers too!

Wow, congratulations, Lisa! I am so chuffed for you! And for me too, more Raine reading for me! Very exciting! Do you have time to celebrate?
Ohh, clever, slipping in a chapter. Way to go to up your word count! Not far to go now! :)
*bounces around cyberspace*
:D That's awesome! Yay! Raine will LIVE!!!!!! For a few more books :)
What are you doing to celebrate?
Hmmm, we went out for Mexican food the other night. . .and I bought my new Netbook . . that's about it for celebrating.
Congratulations!
Congrats! I'm so happy for you! When do we talk them into a 7th and 8th book?
As soon as I finish Books 5 & 6. ; )
Yay! That's wonderful! Very Very Happy!
congratulations Lisa!
I'm happy for you, and I'm happy that we'll have a five and six!
I hope you don't run out of ideas for Raine for awhile! (though I guess she will eventually deserve a rest)
I was wondering how far ahead you plan things? Not detailed, but do you know that she'll have some problem with __________, eventually? Just curious.
Good luck! : )
Yay for Book 5 and Book 6!
I'll try and push a little harder this week to see if I can take a day off as well. I really want to spend all of Thanksgiving with my family. I am sure they wouldn't be pleased if I tried to sneak off to the computer!
If you keep this speed Lisa you'll be done with Con & Conjure in no time. Do you think you'll keep this speed for Book 6 as well?
What wonderful news! *happydance*
Can't wait for more Raine adventures.
Thank you Angie, Tori, & Kim!
Kim, I have things planned out WAY in advance. And of course, I know I can't make everyone happy with the plots, but I think I'll come pretty danged close. ; )
Tori, I plan on keeping up the NaNo pace through December for Con & Conjure (my goal is to have a finished first draft by January 1, and a finished book four months later). The plan is to have Book 6 finished by this time next year, then start planning out another series in addition to this one.
I'm pushing to be able to write two books a year on two separate series.
At least that's my goal.
CONGRATULATIONS! Tht is good news! {BIG SMILE}
