NaNo Day 5: Another 1700 words, another trip to the dentist

Day 5 word count = 1727
Total NaNo word count = 7873

I didn't make my word count yesterday, and I'm determined to make it up this weekend.

A couple of news tidbits: For those of you who subscribe to The Writer magazine, the December issue is out, and my bi-monthly column "Dueling With Words" is on page 10. This month's column is entitled "Writing a book one sentence at a time." Also today, Jackie finished the designs for the postcards and bookmarks for Bewitched & Betrayed. They look wonderful. I'll get the files from her and post them here next week for you all to see.

And I have some REALLY big news, but I can't make the official announcement quite yet. As soon as I can, I'll share -- in big red letters.

Now for the dental part of my blog. For those of you who've been reading my blog at least for the past year, you know that this has been the "Dental Year From Hell" for me. One root canal, one cracked tooth, and two crowns. Cha-ching. Well, I had to get an emergency appointment with the dentist today. BTW -- I made good use of my new Netbook and wrote while I waited in the waiting room. Got nearly two pages done. Woot!

I thought I had an impacted wisdom tooth or something. Well, you know you have something funky going on when the dental assistant takes one look in your mouth and says "Wow!" in an impressed, yet confused tone.

**For those of you who gross out easily, stop reading now.**

I noticed this morning what appeared to be a tooth coming out sideways through my gum beneath one of my back molars. Not good. I discovered at the dentist that I have "leftover" bone fragments floating around that are coming to the surface. Left over from making me, I guess. Apparently it's not that uncommon. My dentist plucked one of them out (the one that'd broken through), and told me to come back in two weeks and she'll see what the other one decided to do -- come out or go back where it came from -- wherever that is. I swear, the older you get, the stranger you find out your body is.

That's pretty much it. Since I'll be playing Word Count Catch-Up this weekend, I won't be posting tomorrow, but will post as per usual on Monday morning.

Have a great weekend!
And NaNo'ers -- have a productive weekend! I'll be in the writing trenches with you.

Lisa

Would we get a prize for guessing what the big announcement is? I have several *shiny* ideas....

Floating bone = strange! Agree that bodies get stranger as we mature. Or regress!

I won't go into detail about the floating bone problem my sister had. Ugh. Yes, our bodies are very strange.

Very curius about the news! I too, want to guess at what is worthy of an uppercase REALLY and I can REALLY think of only one thing. :)

I am also interested in what your news could be! Of course I have some ideas...

I hate the dentist. I hope it didn't suck too bad. I avoid the dentist at all costs. Probably not the best idea.

Sorry about you having to catch up this weekend for Nano. If it makes you feel better I have some catching up to do as well. I've hit the place in my novel that I feel everything is moving to slowly, and I'm starting to doubt that I'll finish. But I'm going to push through and write anyway! Hopefully today I hit 10k! Wish me luck.

Gee, And I thought going through radiation and chemo at the same time hurt!
Ugh!
Hope you will get better soon!
By the way...
It drives me crazy when people say...
They have news but can't tell!
Good thing,I am a patient
old lady!!
I keep trying to get people to read your books. I am again rereading your books to get ready for "Bewitched and Betrayed".
Any time you have your cover art ready....... I would be willing to give you my unbiased opinion of it. (Ha Ha). I don't think I have one unbiased opinion in my body for any of your books.
Keep writing, but,don't overdo it.
You just tell those nasty publicists to "Chill out"!
Heather says so!

Thank you, Heather! : )

I posted the cover art for Bewitched & Betrayed in October. Scroll back through my blog posts to find it. I would post it on my homepage, but my web designer and programmer are completely redoing by site right now, and I didn't want them to go to all that extra trouble.

Lisa,
Happy Sunday!
My day off!!!
I really like the new cover. Whoa! A bare shouldered Raine.
Getting "Sassy" in your covers now.
Raine is getting older and wiser these days. She deserves a little edgier cover.
When I first saw the cover for
"Magic Lost,Trouble Found",
I thought it was for a teenager. I am so glad,at my age, I read the book anyway.
It gave me a whole new outlook on fantasy books.
I had a "Tith" the other day, with a reader when I mentioned your books. The reader said the book was poorly written. I am very protective of you and your books. She went on and on about how wrong I was. Pooh!
Guess you are used to it.
Anyway, I am looking forward to your newest book. Thank you ever so much for reading my comment.
It is a beautiful sunny day. I will find a cozy jacket and enjoy the sun while it lasts.
Happy writing.

Unfortunately I can't take today off (I've got 2,000+ words to write) -- enjoy the weather for me!

Gah, I am slightly behind right now with a little less than 12k. Hopefully I can continue writing and get past 13k before the night is out.
I see you met your goal tonight Lisa! Congrats on staying on top of Nano and being able to catch up!

Lisa,
I am just wondering what
"NaNo Day" are all about? I am too lazy to go back and find out.
Do authors have to write so many words a day for their book?
"YE gads!"
That would really mess up my creativity in writing my story.
Which, thank goodness, I don't do.
I'll let the pros handle that job.
Hope your "NANO's are doing well.

My fullest sympathies for the dental trouble. I've had a few "interesting" dental problems myself, but not that one. I hope the next visit goes as uneventfully as possible. {Smile}
