NaNo -- The end is just the beginning
As some of you may already know (if you're a member of Raine's Rangers or follow me on Twitter), I crossed the NaNoWriMo finish line yesterday afternoon with a total of 51,289 words. This was immediately followed by a weak "woot" and the realization of an incoming nap. It was the kind of nap where you lose consciousness and wake up three hours later nose-to-snout with a 70-lb. greyhound, and not sure whether the drool on the pillow is yours or his.
Now THAT'S a good nap.
Consciousness was quickly followed by an intense craving for pancakes -- lots and lots of pancakes. And milk -- lots and lots of milk.
I crashed for the rest of the evening (and consumed a huge bowl of buttered popcorn). My muse was really hungry; I've found she likes junk food. The crashing signaled the calm before the storm. Yes, I reached my 50K word goal, but I'm only halfway there. Now I get to do the same thing through December with the goal of having a complete first draft (or as complete as a first draft can be) of Con & Conjure by New Year's Eve.
Coming up tomorrow: The contents of the Con & Conjure file on my netbook -- "Congratulations, ma'am. It's a Blob."

Yay! I finished mine very late on Sat. night at 50,540 words. But like you, that is only the first half of the novel, so lots more to do. Unfortunately (or not) I run an artists' cooperative shop, so not much writing time in December.
Congrats again--and I can't wait to read the next book.
BTW--is there a way to subscribe to this blog? I couldn't find one, but all these sites are different :-)
Congrats, Lisa! I do hope you can keep up that pace, what with the holidays coming up. Maybe some stocking up on junk food would help...
Whoohoo for finishing nano! I'm sure somehow youl'll get the rest of it written in time :)
Congrats on reaching the target, Lisa! I'm so excited for you! :)And I'm sure you'll have no problem getting the first draft of C&C finished by New Year's Eve.
Thank you, everyone!
Congrats! I crossed the finish line a few days ago, but I still have a long way to go until the real end too. Still, I got a lot of words written in November. :)
Have not yet crossed the finish line, but I know I can do it! Just 3k words to go! I should be done in about two hours. My secret weapon: Write or Die.
Glad you were able to make it Lisa!
CONGRATULATIONS! {REALLY BIG GRIN} You met your goal. That's wonderful! {REALLY BIG GRIN}

Congrats! :D
